The End of Love, the Start of a Journey

Is everything fictive?

In this holiday village on tropical islands, she finally felt peaceful. We were still in the Philippines, but we have already left the Philippines too. Two different realities existed in the same country. As soon as we got off the international airline, we changed to a private plane to go to the Palawan islands. The car that picked us up crossed Manila, a place where dirtiness and poverty made her upset. Now, blue waters shine under the sun and coral reefs can be clearly seen. She counts the swimming tropical fish with a fresh baked croissant in her hand as she drinks coffee. And she turns to me and says: “traveling is nice, isn't it?”

Excerpt from “Travel in Foreign Environment” in Traveler by Hu Qingfang.

Dear Su,

I am on Palawan islands that are named the heaven on earth. Primitive natural ecosystems are perfectly preserved here. You can see underground rivers and caverns, as well as rare plants and animals. You can also order a beer to empty your mind sitting by the sea.

Everything is perfect on the islands. In addition to flawless scenery, hotels are like imaginary heaven. The carefully arranged environment makes me feel so cozy that I almost forget the pain of losing love.

I would imagine walking with you on stainless white sand with your hands in mine, and I would kiss your forehead gently at the very moment when the sun falls beneath the horizon.

This place is so perfect that it feels like another universe. And in this universe, we are still together.

Love you forever Bin
