With eyes full of brightness, these authors of nature literature have chronicled the lives of Taiwan's native animal species. The objective observations and subjective feelings of these authors both detail their interactions with these animals and convey their deep feelings for this land. These works remind us to set aside our human-centric perspectives in order to understand and respect the life around us and to realize that life has always been so much bigger than just us humans.

Although animals have shared this world with humans since our earliest prehistory, today their very survival seems to rest in our hands. Their silence should not be taken as an excuse to ignore them.

Instead, as beings under the same skies, it is only right for all of us to enjoy the same freedoms.
