The End of Love, the Start of a Journey

The only sad man on the lonely boundary.

I stare at the boundary stone again and stretch my hand carefully to the stone to feel the warmth it received from the sun. What do you know? What can you change? This time, if the border has any meaning whatsoever, it exists for “being there in person.” “Go forth”, you say to yourself. This is the easiest step, but also the heaviest one to make. Crossing this little boundary stone means you will move further forward.

The border has become a scar in your heart. From the moment you face it, the countdown will be reset. You still do not know what you will be fighting against. The next moment is a kind of happening, beginning and ending.

You and yourself will be split apart.

Excerpt from “Endless Border” in Kora by Hsieh Wanglin.

Dear Su,

I follow the Dian-Zang highway into Tibet. The views on the road are gorgeous, especially the Meili Snow Mountains. I am lucky to see the legendary “golden sunshine on the snow mountain” in a perfectly clear morning. It is the most famous scene of the Meili Snow Mountains, the heavenly beauty of which is unforgettable.

With continuous high mountains in sight, the white snow on top of them is like my missing for you, which cannot be melted by the strongest sunlight. The stones that mark the border sit solitarily by the road. I stand beside the boundary stone and ask a passer-by to take a photo. In the photo, I look like the most lonely person in the world.

Borders exist to be crossed. I hope that after crossing the border, I will be able to get rid of sadness and forget you once and for all.

Still missing you Bin
